Medical Providers Visits/Use/Events and Expenditures
Description: A medical provider visits/use/event is any visit made during the person's reference period to a medical provider. For MEPS, medical providers are Medical Doctors (M.D.), Doctors of Osteopathy (D.O.), hospitals, emergency rooms, clinics, or other health care facilities where health services are provided by or under the direction of a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy, and Home Health Agencies. Medical provider information are collected on the details on the nature of any contacts or visits, the type of provider, time spent with the provider, health conditions requiring medical provider services, treatments and services performed, surgical procedures, and prescribed medicines. Medical provider visits/use/events and expenditures are available as part of the Office-based Medical Provider and Hospital Outpatient event-level files. Information summarized to the person-level is available on the full-year consolidated files under the Household Full Year Files.
Publications: Publications are listed in reverse chronological order (most recent first).
