Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the United States and globally. In this Statistical Brief, data from the 2022 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey - Household Component (MEPS-HC) are used to estimate heart disease healthcare expenditures for adults with treated heart disease within the U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population. Types of healthcare service expenditures include hospital inpatient stays, hospital outpatient visits, hospital emergency room visits, home health services, prescription medications, and office-based visits. |
