This public use data file is one in a series of public use event files from the 2023 MEPS HC
and MPC. It was released as an ASCII file (with related SAS, SPSS, R, and Stata programming
statements and data user information) and as a SAS dataset, SAS transport file, Stata dataset, and
Excel file. The 2023 Home Health Visits Public Use File (hereafter referred to as the HHV PUF)
provides detailed information on home health events for a nationally representative sample of the
U.S. civilian noninstitutionalized population. Data from the HHV PUF can be used to make
estimates of home health (HH) event utilization and expenditures for the calendar year 2023. The
PUF contains 51 variables and has a logical record length of 201 with an additional 2-byte
carriage return/line feed at the end of each record. This file consists of MEPS survey data
obtained in the 2023 portion of Round 3 and all of Rounds 4 and 5 for Panel 27 and Rounds 1
and 2, and the 2023 portion of Round 3 for Panel 28 (i.e., the rounds for the MEPS panels
covering the calendar year 2023).
